The Elite & U23 Road National Championships will be held in Napier for the third consecutive year. The event is the pinnacle weekend of racing that sees the best of New Zealand’s international professionals and domestic riders compete for the New Zealand national champion’s jersey.
Napier has become an extremely popular venue to host the battle for the white jersey with the black fern. In 2017 Rushlee Buchanan once again retained her elite road national title, while Jaime Nielsen took the time trial crown. Regan Gough made it an U23 road and time trial double, with Mikayla Harvey taking the inaugural U23 women’s time trial and Amanda Jamieson made history in the women’s U23 race. Finally Joseph Cooper claimed the elite men’s road race title for the second time with a solo attack.
