2011 Benchmark Homes Round 1 results

"The win means a lot to me as it's my fifth year doing the [Benchmark] series after starting out as a real novice rider," Horgan said.

 

"It's great to finally pay back the faith my sponsors have in me. It's my biggest win with Subway. Ian took second but deserved the win just as much as I did; he was just so strong."

 

Horgan attacked his small break group (which included his teammate Ian Smallman) and soloed the last 5km to the finish line.

 

The second of four races in the 2011 Benchmark series is the 120 km Timaru 'Points to Peak' on 11th September.
