Team Skoda Racing have enjoyed another massive year of both domestic and international racing and it’s far from done yet. China awaits and then in 2018 there are the national championships, Gravel and Tar Classic and New Zealand Cycle Classic all on the cards for arguably New Zealand’s finest men’s development squad.
We took the time out during the Criterium National Championships in Takapuna to talk to Brad about the season gone by. The impression we got was not just how successful 2017 has been for the team, but more how eye opening the season has been too. Australia was a challenge but a big learning curve, Southland was the putting to rest of ghosts in U23 categories past, Joel Yates and Alex West moving on to international contracts in 2018 is the completion for them of what Team Skoda Racing exists for.
Coming up there is no sign that the team are slowing down for the summer, quite the opposite; their season’s just clicking into gear. The team have elite road nationals to prepare for where you can expect to see them with their somewhat characteristic aggression that is a hallmark of many of their races. The Gravel and Tar Classic and New Zealand Cycle Classic, the two UCI 1.2 and 2.2 races hosted on our shores are on the hit list, but so too is a racing stint in China coming right up.
