After having a solid 2015 season with their riders stepping onto podium’s all around the South Island, Modus Construct Cycling Team is back for 2016 with a couple of new signings to go with the returning 11 riders.
Christchurch based rider Ben Roberston comes on board after having a couple of strong past seasons and Auckland based Josh Aldridge will also be join the team. While his time in Australia will be spent racing for AMR Renault Racing, with whom he will tackle the NRS series, Aldridge will race for Modus Construct in New Zealand.
Brad Evans and Max Jones were among the stand out performers in New Zealand during the 2015 season, with Max Jones taking the Kings Electrical Ashburton Classic win in round 4 of the Calder Stewart Series. Evans’ meanwhile needs little introduction as his palmares included a popular victory in the SBS Tour of Southland as well as winning the fifth round of the Calder Stewart Series, the Kiwi Style Bike Trails Nelson Classic; ahead of teammate Max Jones.
Team Manager Marc Prutton said, “We had a great 2015 in the Elite series and a few other events around the south. We have some pretty big goals for 2016 kicking off with the Elite Nationals Championships in January where he will be taking a small but strong team of Brad Evans, Jake Maryyatt, Martin Ryder and Josh Aldridge to Napier.”
The quartet will be among those to watch as they take on the strength of defending national road champion Joseph Cooper and his Avanti IsoWhey Sports team, as well as young ONE Pro Cycling trio of James Oram, Dion Smith and Hayden McCormick.
Of the four riders present at this year’s Elite Nationals, Brad Evans was highest placed in the final edition of the Christchurch road nationals, finishing 14th last year; a result he will look to better on the Napier course.
