Dylan Kennett has become the new leader of the Tour of Poyang Lake on the back of winning stage 2 to Yingtan. The Kiwi took the win out of the big bunch sprint, winning ahead of Grzegorz Stepniak and Christiaan Alexander Looij.
Stage 2 of the PSBC Tour of Poyang Lake took the field from Mount Longhu to Yingtan, a journey of 131.6km. The stage saw the St George Continental Cycling Team line up with Kiwis Dylan Kennett, Tom Hubbard and Morgan Smith all in action as well as compatriots Logan Griffin and Liam Cappel of the Nex CCN Cycling Team, Nick Miller of Team McDonalds Downunder and Ian Talbot of Interpro Stradalli Cycling.
Of the 104 riders who made it to the finish it was a big bunch of almost 90 riders who arrived at the sprint finish together. Dylan Kennett was the fastest finisher on the line and by some margin. The Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medallist took flight and won the stage by a little over a bike length from Grzegorz Stepniak of Team CCN Euro and Christian Alexander Mooij of Monkey Town Continental Team.
The win puts Kennett into the blue race leader’s jersey after the second of 11 stages of racing. Tomorrow’s stage takes the remaining riders from Leping to Jingdezhen.
