This year’s National Track Championships will see a change in venues as the Vantage Elite & U19 Track National Championships take place in Invercargill and the Age Group Track National Championships head north to Cambridge in the Waikato.
Stadium Southland in Invercargill will host next year’s Vantage Elite & U19 Track National Championships from 2nd-5th February, with a potentially successful Olympic Games paving the way for an exciting four days of racing in which fans will hope to see a number of their favourite Olympic medallists in action before the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong just a couple of months later.
This year Natasha Hansen was the stand out performer on the day. The Southland sprinter will have an opportunity to replicate the form she showed in Cambridge this year where she took a clean sweep of sprint, keirin, 500m time trial and team sprint honours.
2017 sees the Age Group Track National Championships held from 15th-19th March in the Avantidrome in Cambridge. In a direct reversal of this year’s championships, the top age group riders, young and old, will head north.
This year a number of records were set by the age group riders in Invercargill, with Corbin Strong of Southland among them. The U17 boys rider set a national record in the U17 individual pursuit.
The SKODA Criterium National Championships date is currently yet to be confirmed.
