This year one Kiwi who will be riding the Tour Down Under along with Patrick Bevin will be Jack Bauer. The reigning national time trial champion last rode the Santos Tour Down Under in 2015 and has ridden the race four times, finishing three of them.
Bauer’s best results in the Santos Tour Down Under have been two 11th place finishes overall in 2012 and 2013. His Quick Step-Floors outfit will be interesting to watch. Without team sprinter Marcel Kittel the team will rely on a number of other dynamics within the team. One of those dynamics will be provided by Gianluca Brambilla who won stages of both the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana in 2016.
The team will also feature talented Czech young rider Petr Vakoc. Vakoc finished second in stage 2 of the Tour Down Under, finished fifth in Strade Bianche and won Fleche Brabanconne in April.
