Get over to the Avantidrome in Cambridge for a history making evening. Jaime Nielsen, Olympian, World Cup and World Championship track medallist, will be taking on the hour record. No Kiwi woman has taken on the task of the hour record so Nielsen’s ride will set the benchmark for New Zealand athletes.
Nielsen will also be looking to break the world sea level hour record currently set by Bridie O’Donnell. O’Donnell’s distance of 46.882km was achieved at the Super-Drome in Adelaide and was the outright world hour record for women until Evelyn Stevens set a new world hour record at altitude with 47.980km.
The event will raise funds for Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, with just gold coin donations required for entry.
The attempt will kick off at 6pm.
