The Gravel & Tar Classic is New Zealand’s only UCI one-day event.  The race is also one of the toughest in the Southern Hemisphere with the gravel element providing a huge & unpredictable challenge for all concerned.

Heading into the race’s fourth edition the 130km men’s Gravel & Tar Classic has grown in prestige year by year.  Last year Mobius BridgeLane’s Ethan Berends took out the title, the first time the race was run as a UCI 1.2 event.

In 2019 the event organisers are delighted to announce that the inaugural UCI women’s 1.2 event will be held over 100km of racing; which will feature 40km of gravel over 5 sections.

Also featuring in the 2019 event will be the Slicks & Stones 100, aimed at the ‘hard-core sport and weekend rider who wants to experience the same arduous route as the professional riders’.  Entries are open for the Slicks & Stone 100 now.
