The Flight Centre K2 Road Cycle Classic takes in the beautiful circuit around the Coromandel, but don’t be deceived by the race’s beauty, it’s also arguably the toughest one day cycle challenge in the Southern Hemisphere.
In 2018 the Flight Centre K2 Road Cycle Classic will start in Coromandel and will head anti-clockwise through Thames, Tairua and Whitianga before returning to Coromandel. In total the main K2 event is 192km in length and takes in seven climbs that begin with Manaia Hill and include the monstrous ascent of Kopu-Hikuai Hill.
The Cervelo K1 event tackles just about half the distance but still includes four climbs starting with Pumpkin Hill and finishing with Whangapoua Hill.
