We had such a blast hanging out with David Lashlie at the VeloFit Cycling Studio in Tauranga, and finding out how exactly they champion the Wattbike system.  This is a venue that really does provide a rather unique cure to indoor training boredom!

How many of us know at least one rider – young to the sport or less young – who would be totally keen on joining a bunch ride but the prospect of being dropped off the back of the group, or shamed out of the group through lack of group riding knowledge is a perpetual put-off?  How many of us are that rider?

How many of us know or are a rider who – possibly taking the above points into mind – are therefore lone rangers when it comes to riding, but then when it comes to indoor training the workouts just seem to dwindle in their intended length as the sight of the same dried paint on the wall becomes just a little too uninteresting?

Well, David Lashlie at the VeloFit Cycling Studio in Tauranga has come up with a wonderfully innovative answer; that provides a cure to indoor training boredom; while also becoming a great, fresh, new way of doing group rides that takes its athletes out of the stereotypical gym spin class and into a peloton setting that puts all fear of floundering off the back of the bunch way out into the distance.

The only regret we had from our time in Tauranga with David and the crew was that we were holding the cameras and not jumping on the Wattbike with the team ourselves!
