Scully gives the thumbs up after his scratch race victory ©RoadCycling.co.nz
This was the only race Scully was competing in after a heavy and successful work load this season which saw the teenager win five medals in the last two World Cups.
"I am pretty pleased with that," Scully said after last nights victory.
"Hopefully that's enough to earn selection to the World Championships and on to the Commonwealth Games. They are the two big goals for me this year."
The victory was far from a certainty for Scully. The pace was very high and despite numerous attempts no rider managed to escape and gain a lap on their competitors.
"It was tough, the pace was really high out there, but that was part of the game plan – keep up the front, that's where all the action is," Scully said after his win.
A couple of times Peter Latham escaped and Scully knew it's always easier to reel break riders in earlier rather than later, so that's what he tried to do.

The action was being made by Latham, Michael Vink, Jason Allen and Marc Ryan.
Ryan had double incentives, he was chasing the scratch and omnium wins. He knew if he could get a few placings ahead of Westley Gough he could earn the omnium title.
However, Scully had other plans and in the final select sprint he broke free for vctory.
"You've got to back yourself in these type of circumstances. I knew it was going to come down to a bunch sprint and I just gave it everything I had."
