Kiesanowski on track for the Commonwealth Games

Team New Zealand pushed Kiesanowski to the front race after race.

Australia's Laura McCaughey, the main competition, was able to stage a challenge in the finale but Kiesanowski held on for overall victory.

"It was definitely an advantage to have some strong teammates with me, and we worked really well together," Kiesanowski said.

"It doesn't matter which one of us wins, but I was the lucky one tonight. I was just trying to win every race, and whatever comes of that happens. I was always in the top three, so it helps to be consistent when you have four races."

After a successful season of road racing in the US, Kiesanowski is now training on the track for her role in the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Kiesanowski let it be known a long time ago that she wanted to be in contention for the track squad for the October Games. To prove her commitment, she cut her 2009 road season short and came back from the US to concentrate on a season of track racing in New Zealand.

After 10 years on the professional road circuits of Europe and the US, the Cantabrian did plenty to impress the selectors and was recently named in the women's track endurance team for the Games. The experienced rider has competed in prior Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

Her track wins prove Kiesanowski knows how to translate her road speed straight to track speed to continue her winning form.
