Aaron Gate torn to shreds in madison

GateTornThumbMar 28th, 11.  Aaron Gate finished the 50km madison, which he raced with Tom Scully, torn up - literally -after an early crash in the final session of the UCI Track World Championships.

The 20 year old Auckland rider was able to get back into the action, albeit without much of his black skinsuit.  The Kiwi duo finished 13th in the race won by defending champions Leigh Howard and Cameron Meyer from Australia who lapped the field.

The Netherlands team thrilled their home crowd by taking the most points in the sprints, but finished a lap down and had to be content with 3rd place.  The Czech Republic, the only other team to lap the field, won the silver medal.
