Both riders have been the Tour de France runner-up two times, and neither wants to make it three.
Heading into tomorrow's penultimate stage time trial, Andy Schleck leads the GC by 53sec over his brother Frank, but it is the 57sec between him and Evans that are the most critical.
Evans, the better of the two in this discipline, said his strategy for the time trial is simple, "Start as fast as possible, finish as fast as possible and it's fast enough."
"Of course, I'd much rather be in yellow with five minutes (lead) going into the time trial," he said.
The Grenoble time trial is the exact same course Evans rode at the Criterium du Dauphine in June.
The Schlecks did not race that event, in fact they have not even ridden the course in training. Andy said he did watch it on TV and has some idea of what to expect.
After the Dauphine criterium, which was won by HTC Highroad's Tony Martin, riders described the course as technical with hard climbs and tricky descents, making it hard to find a good rhythm.
Back in June, intermittent rain affected the race outcome. The forecast for tomorrow - cloudy with light rain at times.
It will be another late night for Kiwi Tour fans!
