BMC Grand Prize winner
thumb_bmclogosmallJul 28th, 09. One lucky RoadCycling.co.nz reader received the call many of you had been hoping for - he has won the Tour de France Grand Prize, the BMC Racemaster SLX01.

It took a few calls, but finally Kevin Waters was home to hear the news.  He was the winner of a great new bike.

When RoadCycling.co.nz first called his number, Kevin's wife answered. Kevin was out, but we were keen to hear if the winner was actually a cyclist, "oh yes" was the quick response.

When we did talk to Kevin he was thrilled to hear the news he had won the bike.  "It was always a bit of a dream to have a top level bike," he said.

Kevin's current bike, a Giant, has been in good use this year.  The masters cyclist is in training for the "Round the Bays in a Day" 250km race in Melbourne this October.

The three time round Taupo veteran says the BMC might help him into a faster group on his Palmerston North masters Sunday rides.

It was Kevin's Ironman son who put him onto RoadCycling.co.nz and therefore the competition. "I enjoy your Road Cycling NZ site, really up to date which is important," he said.

Back in March Kevin raced the Kapiti Cycle Challenge where RoadCycling.co.nz was up Paekakariki Hill taking photos of the race, by chance we took this photo of him.

Kevin, RoadCycling.co.nz and the thousands of you who entered the draw, thank BMC-Racing.com for their generous prize!  It certainly added a great dimension to our Tour de France coverage.  Thank you BMC.
