Nov 8th, 11. Nominations are now open for the 2011 People's Choice Award - the public voting process seeks to find New Zealand's favourite cyclist.

After his mammoth effort to help Hayden Roulston at last year's Commonwealth Games, Gordon McCauley was a clear winner of the inaugural award announced at the BikeNZ Road & Track Rider of the Year Awards Ceremony in January.

The nominations for the 2011 winner opened today, but get in quick to have your say as the nominations close this Friday.

You can nominate any Kiwi road or track cyclist - it doesn't need to be an elite rider  - and you don't have to be a BikeNZ member to have your say.

The five cyclists with the most nominations will be announced on Monday 14th of November at which time a second public vote will determine the winner.

Nomination form open now ...

There is no criteria, the application form simply asks, "What makes your nominee awesome ".

Who is your choice? Who impressed you most? Who deserves some extra recognition? Who is the biggest personality in the sport? Who gave the most to their teammates, club or community? Who had the best season?

Who is your People's Champion of 2012?
