| UCI ProTour License for Team Radio Shack |
 Oct 17th, 09. The International Cycling Union (UCI) today granted Team Radio Shack a UCI ProTour license for four years.
The ProTour license guarantees the team, which includes kiwi Sam Bewley, entry into all the events on the pro tour calendar from 2010 through to 2013.
The first ProTour event of 2010 is the Santos Tour Down Under in South Australia and Lance Armstrong has previously stated the team will debut there this January.
The Santos Tour Down Under was recently named as Australia's Best Tourism Event. Last year's Tour Down Under attracted record numbers of spectators and media after Armstrong announced he would be at the event as his first comeback race after returning from his three year retirement. With the excitement of Armstrong's return and the prospect of watching the first race of his Team Radio Shack and of the other new ProTour team, Team Sky, the 2010 Santos Tour Down Under will also be a huge event.
“Visitors travel here to watch the world’s best cyclists race the first UCI ProTour event of the season, to take part in the range of associated events and public rides, and enjoy the great attractions and hospitality that South Australia has to offer," said South Australian Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith.
The 2010 Santos Tour Down Under will be held in South Australia from 17-24 January 2010.
