UCI names teams looking to race in 2012

Oct 6th, 11. The UCI today announced the list of teams who have requested registration for the 2012 cycling season.

By October 1, teams wishing to be registered in the first or second division for 2012 were required to submit budgets, signed sponsorship agreements, a bank guarantee and signed contracts with at least ten riders.  

These files now undergo an in-depth evaluation, the results of which will determine the next steps in the registration process. Some teams, pro-continental and well performing pro-teams with an existing licence, will have a decision by November 1st, while others will have to wait a little longer.

MIssing from these lists are teams Garmin Cervelo, Geox and Movistar - although in previous years teams have been added in after this point in the process.

UCI ProTeams (1st division) in possession of a UCI WorldTour licence for 2012

- These teams need to finish in the Top 15 ranked teams in the 2011 season to help keep their World Tour status.
