Oct 27th, 11. Team Garmin Cervelo today announced it has added Nathan Haas, recent winner of the Japan Cup and the Jayco Herald Sun Tour to its 2012 roster.

The Sydney university student won the UCI2.1 Jayco Herald Sun Tour earlier this month ahead of many experienced pro-tour riders - a week earlier he just beat NZ's Josh Atkins (Trek LiveStrong) at the Tour of Tasmania.

"For me, signing with Garmin Cervelo is a dream come true," the 22 year old said.

"To even be considered as part of such an incredible outfit is humbling in itself, and I look forward to the next two years working under some of cycling' greats with a huge sense of enthusiasm and optimism.

"Simply put, to leave my development in Garmin-Cervélo's hands, I could not be happier."

Haas rode only part-time for Tasmanian team Genesys Wealth Advisers prior to joining Garmin Cervelo, but has been pulling great results for the past few years and has been dreaming of 'going pro'.

The young Australian was 2nd in the 2010 Australian U23 road race national championships and captured 4th in the time trial in the same year. This year he won four tours.

Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports said, "Nathan has exceptional talent. At such a young age, he is already is one of those unique riders who figures out a way to win, no matter what style or level of race he is competing in. We think this is just the beginning for him, and we're excited to see how he continues to develop as a rider."
