Announcing our retirement

Oct 17th, 10.  With mixed feelings, we regret to inform our loyal readers we are retiring from reporting your road cycling news.

Retirement
We're retiring ©RoadCycling.co.nz
The end of the international road cycling season is always marked by a few retirements - this season we are one of them.

We've had an incredible couple of seasons bringing you the news of Kiwi cycling success in NZ and around the world.  We've met fantastic people, had awesome experiences and feel privileged to have been accepted into the NZ cycling scene.

Looking over our statistics, we are amazed we have researched, written and published around 1,500 Kiwi success stories, and many hundreds more on the pro-tour scene.   We're even more amazed to see these have been read by over 200,000 unique people - thank you for your support!

Unfortunately we aren't in a position to continue to give RoadCycling.co.nz the time and resources it requires.

To keep the current level of focus on Kiwi internationals, to attend NZ events, and to satisfy the increasing demands from events, teams, and even more international riders, has required a growing time commitment that we are unable to maintain.

To meet the growth, we would need to set up our own mini media empire, something which was never our goal, and would be very hard to make commercially viable in this market.

We are proud to leave RoadCycling.co.nz as a reference of New Zealand cycling history for 2009 and 2010.

With summer around the corner, we are looking forward to many days out on the bike and in front of a BBQ, rather than in front of a computer.  The time is right for a change.

Although we are announcing our retirement, effective immediately, we are still looking at alternative opportunities for 2011.  Who knows what we might come up with after we've taken a much needed break.

Our passion for Kiwi cycling success has not diminished. It is stronger than ever. With more teams, riders and interest in the sport, the future is bright.

Thanks to our readers whose encouragement has made the long hours, early mornings, and hard work worthwhile. Thanks to those of you who have helped us along the way in so many ways.

Finally, thank you to all you riders who have let us into your world, put up with our cameras and voice recorders, and generally let us share your success.

Happy riding, safe riding - see you out on the road.

Sarah & Ben Christian
