Team CycloSport - The first Women's Cycling Team in NZ to be registered as a BikeNZ Trade Team, has been established as a Cycling Development Team to provide a structured coaching-science pathway to enable the riders to follow a professional cycling career. Ensuring that career and educational advice and personal development programme are included, with the emphasis on ‘coaching the person', not just the athlete.

Apr 22nd, '09. Stage 4 report from rider Tracy Best. Today was the fourth and final stage of the tour, a 74km course once again on the lovely smooth flat roads of Chongming Island.

Apr 21st, '09. Stage 3 report from Team Manager Eddie Bright. Stage Three day dawned wet and windy, not good conditions for the tour's longest stage, 122km along flat and fast roads.

April 20th, '09. Tour of Chongming Island – Stage Two. Jessica Jolly update. The second stage of the tour was over a flat 79km course, made challenging by high winds a very narrow section along the coast.

Apr 1st, 09. Team Cyclosport's great results at the recent NZCT Women's Tour of New Zealand have earned them an invitation to the Tour of Chongming Island in Shanghai, China starting on April 17th.

Mar 3rd, '09. Cyclosport's Rachel Mercer was the top placed kiwi cyclist at the NZCT Women's Tour of New Zealand, and Cyclosport were the best placed kiwi team. Directeur Sportif Eddie Bright and the team review the tour.

Mar 3, '09 After all the anticipation and lead up to Sundays UCI 1.1 race the day turned out to be fast and aggressive. There was a lot more attacks going, but without much success as the Australian team were set to chase anything in order to control the race and set up Rochelle Gilmore for the win.

Mar 2nd '09. Over the past week, the CycloSport team of Rachel Mercer, Emma Crum, Tracy Best, Jessica Jolly and Sherilyn Gray has been competing in the Women's Tour of New Zealand. The tour was held over 3 days and was based around Masterton.

Feb 18 Eddie B. In a great display of power riding, 19 year old Rachel Mercer smashed her record for the 24km Liverton Time Trial. The new record 33 minutes and 44 seconds broke the old record by 40 seconds, no mean feat. Rachel averaged 43.03 KPH when setting the new course record. Rachel holds the three fastest times over this course. |
Feb 16, Eddie B. The 20th Anniversary Bev May's Tour over two days of hard racing proved an excellent training ground for Team CycloSport's young riders. The first event that new team member, Emily Collins competed with the team.
The A and B grade were combined providing a challenge for the younger U19 first year riders some still only 16 years old. The first stage, a 21km Time Trial was expected to be a CycloSport benefit but unfortunately, Rachel was having an off day finishing 4th in the TT with Tracy in 10th.

Dec 22 Eddie B. In a ground breaking initiative for women’s cycling, Team CycloSport was registered this month as the first NZ women’s cycling team under the new BikeNZ Trade Team concept.

Dec 31, Eddie B. The 2008 Tour De Femme was once again held in very hot and dry conditions, typical holiday weather in Nelson, a fantastic location for a cycling race. Team CycloSport arrived at the tour with big goals after the success experienced last year.
Day one started with the 11km infamous Takaka Hill Climb, a tour defining stage. Emma and Rachel both rode a faster time than last year with both recording the same time putting them in joint 4th place with Tracy only 4 seconds behind. Jessica rode strongly to finish in a good time.
