2010 Season roundup - Wade Mangham |
|
Mangham ©RoadCycling.co.nz
This year Mangham raced for Blois CAC 41, a Division 1 French team. While most of his races were in France, his top result came from a race in Belgium.
He went to Belgium to spend time with Clinton Avery, a fellow Rotorua rider and teammate from Team Cardno, winners of this year's Trust House Cycle Classic Tour of Wellington.
While Mangham's French teammates concentrated on the French National Championships, the Kiwis took Belgium by storm.
Over one weekend, first Avery took the win on Saturday, then on Sunday the duo tricked the field to place 1st and 2nd, this time with Mangham on the top step of the podium and Avery next to him in 2nd.
2010 International season roundup
Best ride or result of the season? Best result would be the kermesse I won when staying with Clinton. I had a couple of other good rides but nothing to get excited over.
Next races / goals before the end of the international season, if any? I'm all done over here, just waiting out the last few days.
Best experience (on or off the bike)? Riding in Belgium up those famous cobbled climbs for the 1st time.
Did you achieve your goals for the international season? I wanted a win and I got that, but it could have been a lot better all round.
3rd September I get back to Rotorua and I'll be there all summer.
What's the thing you like most about coming home after a season on the road? Just seeing family and friends.
What's the first major Kiwi food addiction you have to quell upon landing? K-fry in Huntly on the way home from Auckland.
What are your goals for the NZ summer season of racing? No goals yet, just doing Tour of Southland.
If you would like to share your plans for 2011, please feel free to (if you can). I will be heading back to France again for another crack.
Mangham's win
All season round-ups to date: Emma Crum, Ruaraidh McLeod, Michael Torckler, Tom David, Daniel Barry, Patrick Bevin, Wade Mangham, Taylor Gunman, George Bennett, Jason Allen.
