2010 season roundup - Tom David

tom_david_thumbSep 2nd, 10. Kiwi international Tom David shares his season roundup with RoadCycling.co.nz. He's looking forward to some Kiwi racing this summer.

Tom David was based in Belgium with team Davo Lotto Davitamon.

2010 International Season Round-Up

Best ride or result of the season?
I won a kermis, but that's nothing really anything to get excited about.  I've been missing results, but had some pretty good form at times.

Next races / goals before the end of the international season, if any?
None! Season is pretty much over for me.

Best experience (on or off the bike)?
I don't know really.  I've been coming to Belgium for a few years so everything here is just part of life. I'm such a hard old salt!
But I've got to say my flatties in the barn are pretty hard case - we've had a few good ones for sure. Everybody needs to meet a Latvian! (ask George [Bennett])

Did you achieve your goals for the international season?
No. There were times when I had the legs to do what I wanted, but I still needed a bit of luck. It didn't come

When are you back in NZ, and where will you be?
Get back on the 11th of September (eek!). I hadn't planned on being home so early, but I think it'll work.

What's the thing you like most about coming home after a season on the road?
My favorite part of coming home is being home!

What's the first major Kiwi food addiction you have to quell upon landing?
Can you please let Wade [Mangham] know that Kentucky Fried Chicken doesn't come from NZ! I don't really know, fish and chips are pretty staple for me when I'm at home. I hope somebody lets my Mom know she must prepare me a lekker roast lamb for my first night back!

What are you goals for the NZ summer season of racing?
I think this is the first year in a long time where I'm going to race at home! Since I'm back so early I'm hoping I can find a team to do Southland with. I figured I'll also do K2 - home game advantage and all.

Then maybe January I'll do Nationals but I don't know yet. Then hopefully Wellington also, to get some legs before Belgium next year. I still want to keep pretty low key really. Not much of a hype monkey.

If you would like to share your plans for 2011, please feel free to (if you can).

I'll be in Belgium next year, the rest is a secret (also to me).

All season round-ups to date: Emma CrumRuaraidh McLeod, Michael Torckler, Tom David,  Daniel BarryPatrick Bevin,  Wade ManghamTaylor Gunman,  George Bennett, Jason Allen.
