Team time trial

For the first time in the event's 43 year history, Hamilton Boys' High School won the U20 boys TTT at the NZ Schools Championships  in Levin today.

 

Lead by junior world track bronze medallist Scott Creighton, the Hamilton Boys' High School team completed the course in a blistering 22m39s, the fastest time of the day.

 

Creighton and teammates Tom McLachlan, Stephen Brunskill, Sam Gaze and Corby Price finished 18sec ahead of the St Kentigern's College team.

 

Christchurch Boys' High School won a much deserved bronze medal in the same division, one of only six South Island teams competing. They edged out Palmerston North Boys' High School by 1sec.

 

The young St Cuthbert's College Senior A team of Devon Hiley, Elise Salt, Helena Jackson, Meghan Carrol, and Danyela van der Sande successfully defended the national U20 girls title they won last year.  

 

A record 131 teams from across the nation tackled the 16km TTT course in less than ideal conditions. The event continues today with the road race in Fielding. The points races around Manfield Racecourse closes the competition on Monday.
