Jul 22nd, 11. For the third day in a row a Kiwi has stepped up to the podium at the Cascade Cycling Classic.

Today, Jeremy Vennell placed 3rd in the 22.5km individual time trial and now sits 3rd on the General Classification +50s.

The 2009 NZ Time Trial Champion was targeting this stage for a good result and he did not disappoint.

The Bissell Pro Cycling pro's US season is always littered with TT podiums - and a fair few road stage and tour podiums too.

Vennell opened his 2011 TT season by winning the Merco Cycling Classic TT back in March, went on to place 2nd in the Tour of the Gila TT, 3rd in the Joe Martin Stage Race TT and 8th in the Tour of California TT against the world's top pro-riders.

In today's race, on an out and back course with one climb, the 30 year old was 3rd behind NRC leader Francisco Mancebo (RealCyclist.com) and Tom Zirbel (Jamis), who placed 2nd in the US TT Championships behind David Zabriskie in May.

PureBlack Racing's Glen Chadwick, also a former NZ Time Trial Champion placed 4th and move from 14th to 7th overall +1m27s.

In the women's race, Alison Shanks (BikeNZ) was the top placed Kiwi, finishing with the 7th fastest time.

After a bit of confusion, Rushlee Buchanan (Colavita) remains in the lead of the Best Young Rider Classification. After the time trial, organisers told her they had worked out she was too old, and took her jersey off her, but a later communique confirmed they checked the rules and she is once again a Young Rider the best one at that.

Men's results

  1. Francisco Mancebo (RealCyclist.com)  29:05
  2. Tom Zirbel (Jamis) +21s
  3. Jeremy Vennell (Bissell Pro Cycling) +34
  4. Glen Chadwick (Pure Black Racing) +48
