Update on Georgia Williams after Worlds crash

GeorgiaWilliamsThumbSep 24th, 11. She left the jnr women's road race at the World Championships in an ambulance, but NZ's Georgia Williams has since got the all clear and is looking forward to recovering in Hawaii.

"I was pretty annoyed, I was feeling good and looking forward to that race," she told RoadCycling.co.nz in reaction to crashing in the first few minutes today.

The 18 year old, who placed 6th in the time trial event a few days ago, does not remember the crash due to the concussion she sustained. She was told she went face first into, then over the road barriers.

The first she remembers is being in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

"When I got to the hospital they scanned my whole upper body to make sure my neck and head were all right and I got the all clear which was good, just very sore now."

She also has a very swollen lip with two stitches in it.

"I am all good though, just very sore and it is hard to eat,  but I am off to Hawaii on Monday which will definitely help me recover and relax," she said.
