Although radios are banned in the 2010 Trust House Cycle Classic, many teams are still riding with high-tech electronics capturing performance and training data.  These include SRM, Garmin, and Polar devices.

RoadCycling.co.nz asked Kiwi riders Logan Hutchings (Team Solway) and George Bennett (Cardno Team) to share some of their race data.

Bennett's Cardno Team is racing in defence of Michael Torckler's yellow jersey while Hutchings' Team Solway have Heath Blackgrove 3rd in the GC and are constantly looking to move him a step, or two, higher.

For both riders race intensity is high.

Logan Hutching's SRM data

During Friday's 164km stage from Masterton to Pahiatua and return, Team Solway riders Jeremy Yates, Westley Gough and Scott Lyttle were part of the winning break while teammate Hutchings kept Blackgrove safe back in the peloton.

The initial stages of the race were described as like riding in a criterium, with the first 60km of the race ridden at extremely high speed.

Hutchings finished safely in the peloton where the catch almost occurred. The peloton finished only 15 seconds behind the winning break.

Here are his statistics from his SRM computer:

- Average speed 43 km/hr
- Top speed 74km/hr
- Average power 248 watts
- Average Heart rate 148
- Maximum Heart rate 186

George Bennett's Garmin Edge 705 data

Stage 4, a shorter stage, was raced at an equally fast pace with the riders finishing the stage well ahead of tour organisers' estimates.

Again a break developed where teams were eager for another try to dethrone Torckler and/or take stage glory.

Cardno Team, with their line up of Kiwi internationals, went into the day's stage again defending the yellow jersey.

George Bennett, winner of the Tour de Vineyards climb up Takaka Hill in early January, was part of the Cardno Team ensuring no other teams put his leader in danger.

Torckler maintained his 5 second lead thanks to his teammates' hard work ensuring the break was caught before the finish.

During this exciting stage Bennett recorded the following statistics on his Garmin Edge 705:

- Average speed - 42km/hr
- Average Cadence - 92rpm
- Maximum Speed – 77km/hr

This is a high average speed in a stage which included three climbs up Millers Road, and which was buffeted by strong winds for the last two hours of the race.

Today's criterium on the streets of Wellington is also likely to be a high pace event where all teams will be looking for last minute glory. Cardno Team will have to again work hard to defend the yellow jersey.

Who's data shall we look at after this final stage?
