Aaron spent six months overseas this year as part of his preparation for the London Olympic Games, which meant he was away from Kirstie, his partner of five years.
The two-for-one offer for the Benchmark Homes Festival of Cycling gives the Auckland couple the chance to spend some special time together as they explore Canterbury for a weekend.
“We don’t get the chance to get away together a lot so the Benchmark Homes Festival of Cycling is the perfect opportunity,” said Aaron.
“There is entertainment for the whole weekend and we are both looking forward to enjoying some new scenery on our bikes in the Canterbury region.”
Aaron will compete in the 90km road race in the Waipara Valley on Saturday 1 December while Kirstie will tackle the 20km mountain bike course through the North Canterbury vineyards.
Kirstie, who has recently taken to mountain biking, is embracing a rare opportunity to accompany Aaron on one of his cycling trips.
"I've just started mountain biking this year and I enjoy it so much that it now occupies every weekend, so I can't wait to compete in Canterbury," said Kirstie.
On Sunday 2 December Aaron will line up next to his Olympic teammates for the thrilling criterium around the Canterbury University campus.
In addition to the two days of cycling the pair will spend Saturday evening relaxing at the Day on the Green concert at the nearby Mud House Winery to see Kiwi favourites Fly My Pretties, The Black Seeds and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.
The stunning two-for-one limited offer is an initiative from the Christchurch City Council which allows riders to bring a friend from out of town to ride free when they enter the 90km Waipara challenge.
