26th Sept, 12. NZ's George Bennett (Radioshack Nissan Trek) has had a last minute call up to race the UCI1.HC Milano-Torino, Italy's oldest classic race.

Tonight (NZ time), Bennett will compete against Vuelta Espana winner Alberto Contador (Team Saxo Bank Tinkoff Bank) and third placed rider Joaquin Rodriguez (Katusha).

Bennett was called in to replace Radioshack Nissan Trek teammate Tony Gallopin after he suffered a hand fracture in last weekend's World Road Championships in Valkenburg, ruling him out for the coming Tour of Piemonte, Paris-Bourges and Paris-Tours as he has been forced to put an end to his season.

Bennett is also listed to start the World Tour event Tour of Lombardi (Italy) on the 29th of September as well.

After missing replacement selection as the reserve rider for the New Zealand team to Jesse Sargent, he is looking to finish his season with a strong result before a well-earned break back in NZ.
