Buchanan steals another win at Speedweek

May 2nd, 10.  Buchanan won her first Speedweek criterium four days ago from a solo breakaway, today she won the kick to the line.

Buchanan loves racing out in front of the field and today was no exception.

The New Zealand criterium champion had an early burst out the front with one other rider but the peloton knew not to give her too much room and she was reeled back in before the finish, but she wasn't finished yet.

"I was away solo with Kori from Team Type 1 and when the bunch caught us with five to go, I attacked again on the climb and had thrree others with me until the finish," Buchanan told RoadCycling.co.nz

"It was a long sprint which began uphill but once I went there was no looking back! I was motivated to win for my teammates and we have been working so well together all week."

Speedweek ends tomorrow and on Wednesday Buchanan flies to the Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas, a four day tour.

"Our team is three of us from Speedweek and some Tour of Gila riders too. I'm looking forward to my first tour of the season for sure," she said.
