On the penultimate night of the Santos Tour Down Under, South Australia will again put on a huge party to honour the world's top cyclists.

This January past, Sarah and Ben from RoadCycling.co.nz were there to hear Lance Armstrong, Shane Kelly and Cadel Evans honoured.

Today, the South Australia Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith announced  Armstrong will be back again in January 2010.

"Lance will be interviewed on stage and guests will get to hear his story about his return to cycling and find out his views on competing with his new team, Team RadioShack, here in Adelaide," Dr Lomax-Smith said.

Held in the Adelaide Convention Centre, the event is a great night, incredibly well organised with huge screens on every wall ensuring there are no bad seats.

"The Legends' Night Dinner is a great chance for cycling fans to get up close and personal with their heroes," Lomax-Smith said. In this year's event, RoadCycling.co.nz's Sarah did just that.

In addition to Armstrong, she interrupted the meals of George Hincapie, Cadel Evans, Robbie McEwen, Stuart O'Grady, Michael Rogers and Allan Davis, not to mention her favourite - Oscar Pereiro.  She has a prized shirt with all the signatures to prove it.

Tickets to the Legends' Night Dinner cost AUS$250 and can be purchased from the Santos Tour Down Under website - www.tourdownunder.com.au.

Although expensive, the ticket covers an impressive three course meal and includes some of the local produce, top South Australian wines.

Ben and Sarah will be there again in 2010.  If you would like to join us for a table of kiwis, email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Be forewarned though, the event is black tie and the Aussie's take this seriously.  You'll feel very out of place in travel clothes.

"The 2009 Legends' Night Dinner sold out and we expect the 2010 event to be another must-attend occasion," said Dr Lomax-Smith.

"Cycling fans from Australia and overseas travel to South Australia to be part of the Santos Tour Down Under.  People can watch some of the world's best cyclists battle it out in the first race of the year and can take part in the great associated events such as the Legends' Night Dinner," she said.

The Santos Tour Down Under is Australia's premier cycling event, running from January 17 to 24 2010 and features race routes across South Australia including Clare, the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula.
