Aug 16th, 11. While all eyes were on PureBlack Racing's battle for the sprint jersey at the Tour of Utah in the USA, their development team was also having success in Australia.
PureBlack Racing's U23 team were racing the Tour of Geelong in Victoria, where Alex Ray won both the Sprint and Most Aggressive rider jerseys.
It was the second tour in a row the 21 year has won the Most Aggressive title.
The five day, six stage tour started with bad weather and eleven crashes on the opening day, but Ray came through in his typically aggressive way.
After Stage 1, the Kiwi had both the Sprint jersey and and Most Aggressive jersey.
He lost the Sprint jersey on Stage 2, but that only added to his motivation to race aggressively for the rest of the tour.
After snatching the jersey back on Stage 3, he kept hold of it throughout the week thanks to his many mid-race sprint successes.
He finished the tour with both jerseys secured.
Teammate Taylor Gunman, fresh from his season in the US, also had a great tour. The 20 year old finished 5th on General Classification.
The Tour of Geelong was the second of four tours in the Scody Cup series - both tours to date were won by Nathan Haas from Genesys Health Advisers .
The next event is the Tour of Murray River later this month.
