EMC2 2010 range released

thumb_emc2010equipr12Sep 12th, 09. Ben From RoadCycling.co.nz talked to Eric MacKenzie from EMC2 about the new 2010 range designed for absolute performance and handling.

thumb_emc2010equipr10EMC2 have released a new range of carbon bikes utilising some of the latest techniques to improve overall ride comfort and performance.

RoadCycling.co.nz first saw the range at Ausbike in Melbourne where the NZ designed bikes proudly took their place amongst Italian, American, Australian and French bikes.

"All of our carbon bikes are using a new carbon monocoque frame that is stiffer, lighter and more responsive," said Eric MacKenzie.

"They all feature a super oversize 1-1/8 to 1-1/2 inch head-tube and steerer tube shapes designed to increase lateral stiffness."

MacKenzie said the frames are designed around absolute performance and handling with stiffness and steering precision improvements over last year's models.

"This has been achieved through careful adjustments to the tube shapes and the introduction of a head-tube that tapers to 57mm diameter," he said.

This head-tube size is required to accommodate the 1-1/2 inch steerer tube, an increase in diameter of almost 25% over last year which markedly improves steering precision claims MacKenzie.

Other areas of change in this year's models include flattened and widened seat stays to improve comfort and to increase the stiffness of the frame.
