A busy weekend of racing

flat_globeApr 16-17th, 11.  In New Zealand, and around the world, this has been a busy weekend for Kiwi cycling success.  Here is a short summary of the action.

 

 

It is Ben and Sarah from RoadCycling.co.nz's wedding anniversary - our gift to ourselves, a weekend away from the computer. Please come back tomorrow when Sarah will be working hard to bring you the details behind these successes:

 

 

New Zealand

  • Peter Latham won the inaugural Country Road Manawatu Cycling Classic.
  • Sequoia Cooper and Leon Hextall won Around Brunner.
  • Lots of great racing in the CRI Junior tour.
  • Wellington road championships being held today in Kapiti.

 

International Kiwis

  • Emily Collins impressed in the USA with her 2nd place on Stage 2 of the Sea Otter Classic.
  • Also at Sea Otter, Jeremy Vennell was caught on the line after a great solo breakaway.
  • Subway continued in the Tour of Korea.
  • Rachel Larner won both the TT and Road Race in her age group in Perth to qualify for the amateur World Championships.
  • Great NZ racing at the Oceania Paracycling Championships resulted in new champions and medal successes.
  • Jeremy Yates is having a strong performance in the Tour of Greece.
  • Crashes affect NZ U23 team in their latest Nation's Cup race in Europe.
  • Jo Kiesanowski finished in the bunch sprint in the 3rd World Cup event, Ronde van Drenthe.

 

Pro racing

  • Sam Bewley is lining up for tonight's World Tour race, Amstel Gold.
