Another setback for Clinton Avery |
|
When you hear someone has been rushed to hospital on April 1, the hope is always it is an April Fool's prank. Unfortunately the news was true, the Kiwi international had been rushed to hospital by ambulance with appendicitis.
Avery is racing for an amateur team in Belgium this season after his pro-tour contract with Pegasus Racing came to nothing when the team folded.
He picked himself up from the huge disappointment and headed back to Belgium, and to the cobbles he loves. He took his first win with team EFC-Quick Step ten days ago and was looking forward to a big tour this weekend.
Instead, the Rotorua rider is in a Belgium hospital recovering from appendicitis. Avery had been very unwell and in pain for the days preceding this, at least he is feeling much better now.
The doctors have informed him he can get back on his bike as soon as he is out of hospital - pain dependent. He could be back racing in 3-4 weeks.
Best of luck for a quick recovery Clinton!
