From the dream to the reality - this first episode of a multi-part documentary shares insights into the first phase of PureBlack Racing. It sets the tone for the rest of the series, a powerful, yet very honest, look into New Zealand's newest pro-cycling team.

The film-maker Haimona Ngata is a BMXer, and until he was approached by Carl Williams he had not spent any time thinking about the ins and outs of road cycling.  His brief was short, his access to the team completely open.  

When this documentary was shown to a VIP audience in Auckland the weekend before the team left for the USA, none of the riders, and not even Carl, had seen it - such was the creative freedom given to Ngata.  The end result leaves you hanging out for Episode 2.
